Status of the theoretical validation of HR-DOC
This page summarises what has been demonstrated, with which method and what remains pending. It is the basis of the Transparency Center: we distinguish with precision between what is demonstrated, what is numerically verified and what remains a hypothesis.
What has been demonstrated
The theoretical validation of the central HR-DOC hypothesis has been completed through three independent paths:
- Analytical proof of the compound mapping of two confocal paraboloids, with exact collimation in the useful domain.
- Symbolic verification with exact computation.
- Monte Carlo simulation with 200,000 rays: capture above 98 % for the real solar disc.
In addition, étendue conservation and respect of the thermodynamic concentration limit were verified. Geometric limits not foreseen in the initial design were identified and corrected.
What remains pending
Experimental validation remains pending. No simulation replaces an experiment. The laboratory programme plans seven tests and a one-metre-diameter prototype.
What is consolidated science
- The focal property of the parabola.
- Conservation of energy.
- Conservation of étendue.
- The thermodynamic concentration limit.
What are hypotheses
- Stirling engine integration.
- Power transport through optical fibres.
- Artificial photosynthesis powered by the platform.
- Management of the local radiative balance.
Guiding principle
This project is falsifiable: each hypothesis can be confirmed or refuted by evidence. No conclusion will be based on a single measurement.
