What we know, what we investigate, what remains to be proven

The credibility of a scientific initiative is measured by its honesty about what it does not yet know. This page classifies every claim of the project by its level of evidence.

The four levels of evidence

Demonstrated

Consolidated science and results with independent formal or numerical verification.

Being verified

Results with partial validation, in the process of confirmation by independent paths.

Hypothesis

Formulated proposals that still must be demonstrated.

Requires experimentation

Claims that can only be verified with experimental tests.

Inventory

Inventory of claims

The following table summarises the status of each central claim of the project. It is updated as research advances.

The focal property of the parabola: every ray parallel to the axis passes through the focus.

Classical geometric optics

Demostrado

Solar energy can neither be created nor destroyed: only transformed.

First law of thermodynamics

Demostrado

The étendue of an optical system cannot decrease in a non-absorbing medium.

Hamiltonian optics (Liouville)

Demostrado

The HR-DOC system recollimates a beam with reduced section in its useful domain.

Analytical proof + Monte Carlo simulation

Validación parcial

HR-DOC does not violate the thermodynamic concentration limit.

Explicit computation and étendue conservation

Validación parcial

Integration with a Stirling engine will improve the overall efficiency of the system.

Engineering hypothesis

Hipótesis

High-power optical fibre transport will be viable with the expected losses.

Engineering hypothesis

Hipótesis

Climate mirrors will be able to manage the local radiative balance.

Research hypothesis

Hipótesis

The platform will be able to capture CO₂ at significant scale.

Pending: no scientifically justified figure exists

Pendiente

Real paraboloids will maintain the required tolerances in operation.

Pending: requires experimental prototype

How we guarantee veracity

  • Every public claim carries its level of evidence.
  • Results are validated through independent paths before being communicated.
  • Performance and cost figures are presented as design estimates, never as guaranteed results.
  • Refuted hypotheses are published and explained, just like confirmed ones.
